Checking out of Fiji and Vuda point is very easy as there is
a customs and immigration office in the Marina and the process took no more
than 15 minutes to obtain our clearance certificate. We then fueled up with diesel
for the boat and petrol for the outboard. We were pleasantly surprised when the
staff of the marina all gathered on the fuel dock to sing a wonderful Fijian farewell
song and wish us all the best for our onward journey to Vanuatu. It was a
heart-warming and tear-jerking finale to our tour of Fiji. Vinaka Vaka levu
Fiji!
In fact it was not quite our departure from Fiji as we
sailed across the lagoon to Musket Cove to wait for some wind to carry us to
Vanuatu. We spent a couple of days in Musket cove on the anchor and checking
the weather for our crossing to Vanuatu on the excellent 3G network that Fiji
has. Finally, we woke up in the morning and the wind was blowing 20 knots so we
decided to take what was given and head out of the pass on our 460nm trip to
Port Resolution on the south east coast of Tanna, Vanuatu.
